Union County Emergency Services employees, in house, AHA Certified Instructors in the following disciplines. AHA is nationally recognized and accepted as the standard, nation wide. Classes are pre-scheduled through out the year in order to service the most people at once. If you are in need of a class urgently, facilitation is possible, but not guaranteed. When you call, if an Instructor is on shift, you will be directed to them. If not, a message will be left for them, and they will contact you upon their return. HeartSaver is CPR and First Aide for the layperson. No test is required at the end, but you may test if you would like (let your instructor know when scheduling). HeartSaver covers CPR, AED use, and First Aide for initial treatment/recognition of conditions such as pediatrics, trauma, stroke, allergic reaction, heart attack, cardiac arrest, and diabetic emergencies for example.
AHA Basic Life Support
Basic Life Support (BLS) is required for the healthcare provider employed by a healthcare facility. EMT, Paramedic, CNA, LPN, RN, RRT, even Doctors are required to have BLS. BLS for the healthcare provider covers the same information as HeartSaver, and a test is required upon the completion of the course. Class takes approximately 2-4 hours. Any remediation needed is done the same day for convenience.
AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is more advanced covering algorithms, drug use, and electricity setting for conditions such as bradycardia, tachycardia, cardiac arrest. Rhythm recognition and their treatment is part of the course as well. A pretest is required to be completed before the day of class/testing. Please bring the pretest with you, or you may not be able to participate. Your Instructor will direct you how to locate the pretest, or email it to you. Alot a full day for class and testing.
AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) covers many of the same topics as ACLS, but is focused on treating the pediatric patient. Required for the healthcare provider working in many settings that may deal with pediatric patients. A pretest is also required to be completed before the day of class/testing. Please bring the pretest with you, or you may not be able to participate. Your Instructor will direct you on how to locate the pretest, or email it to you. Alot a full day for class and testing.
